Mistral Large 4 preview arrives ahead of planned open-weight release
Mistral has announced a public preview of multimodal Large 4, with one trillion parameters. It plans to release model weights by the end of October 2026.
Mistral AI has announced a public preview of Large 4, a natively multimodal model with one trillion parameters, of which it says 49 billion are active per inference. The preview API is available in Mistral Studio. The company plans to release the model weights by the end of October 2026; the planned release has not yet occurred.
Mistral says it trained the model from scratch on 3,800 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs in its European datacentres. Its training data spans more than 160 languages, including the EU's official languages. The company is also testing the model with cybersecurity specialists and vetted partners.
Among the results Mistral reports are an 82 percent score on a test involving reproduction and patching of an open-source vulnerability and 93 percent on Cybench exercises. Those numbers describe specific evaluations, not general success on every security task or immunity to attacks. Mistral says it will provide architecture details, further benchmarks and post-training methodology alongside the planned weight release.
