Hong Kong users report Claude suspensions after VPN use
Some Hong Kong users say their Claude accounts were suspended for “suspicious signals” after VPN use; Hong Kong is not an officially supported region.
Some Hong Kong users report that Claude accounts they had used through VPNs for months were suspended with a notice about “suspicious signals.” One account describes roughly six months of NordVPN use before the suspension.
Hong Kong is not among Anthropic’s officially supported Claude regions, whereas Singapore and Taiwan are. According to an explanation attributed to Anthropic, the service uses IP addresses and other signals to determine a user’s country or region for terms enforcement, and the location check cannot be disabled.
Some users are reportedly trying Singapore VPN servers and foreign payment methods. Those workarounds do not guarantee continued access and may not comply with the service’s terms.
The available material consists of user reports and a news excerpt. It provides neither a confirmed count of affected accounts nor independent confirmation of the reason for each suspension, so VPN use alone cannot be established as the cause in every case.
