Claude Startups benefits hit capacity after surge in applications
Anthropic says it received hundreds of thousands of applications within days and is over capacity for free Claude Team access and ,000 in API credits; some applications will be reviewed again.
The Claude Startups program has run into capacity limits after a sharp surge in demand. According to the program’s official page, Anthropic received “hundreds of thousands” of applications over a few days and is currently over capacity for its Claude Team and ,000 API-credit offers.
What is changing?
Anthropic says it will re-review applications as it reshapes the program to keep it focused on startup founders. That review may change the status of some earlier applications. People who have already claimed an offer are unaffected and can continue using it.
Existing members will also retain access to the Startup Stack, Applied AI office hours and program events. Monthly API credits for members on Claude Max or Team plans remain available in Console as usual.
The reported 21-fold increase
The initial report says the expanded program received 21 times as many applications in its first 48 hours as in the previous five months combined. The official program page did not display that 21-fold figure when checked, so it should be treated as a reported claim. The official page directly confirms the hundreds of thousands of applications, the short time frame and the capacity constraint on the two offers.
The program page still presents an application option and says bootstrapped, pre-seed and venture-backed startups may apply. Access to particular benefits, however, remains subject to the program’s eligibility rules and capacity.
