Meta says attackers used stolen employee credentials to access private GitHub repositories. The incident affected roughly 1,500 people, mostly Meta employees in the United States.

According to the company, around 99 percent of the stolen material was business data, primarily software source code. The remainder contained personal information that Meta says had been stored contrary to company policy.

Meta says it shut down the unauthorized access, notified law enforcement and is offering affected individuals credit and dark-web monitoring.
