TikTok says 1,000 AI agents can automate user-experience testing
Shou Zi Chew says TikTok can deploy 1,000 AI agents overnight to examine what a 14-year-old in Nigeria sees and generate a report.
Shou Zi Chew, TikTok’s chief executive, says the platform can now use 1,000 AI agents to examine user experiences across different age groups, languages and locations instead of carrying out every test manually.
He gave the example of a 14-year-old in Nigeria, including a scenario involving a French-language experience. Chew said that previously, human trust-and-safety testers would create an account, watch about 100 videos and write a report on the material they encountered and how much of it appeared to violate the platform’s guidelines.
Under the newer approach, he said, the agents can run the process overnight and produce a report the following morning covering the content viewed and potential guideline violations. The remarks indicate that a substantial part of platform-safety testing is being automated, while the technical details and practical scope of the system were not specified.
