Targeted Aid Management Platform

Purposeful support.
Individual choice and dignity.

A platform for charities and support organizations. Aid is delivered as prepaid card credit, recipients purchase within a support program's rules, and organizations follow how resources are allocated and spent.

CHALLENGE & PRODUCT VALUE

Food delivery costs. Limited visibility into spending.

Procuring food, packaging it and delivering it to recipients requires funding and coordination. At the same time, charities need to know where aid is spent and which purchases it supports. These two challenges shaped the product.

Aid recipients

Choose needed goods, understand available credit and control the card through the app.

Charity operations

Manage cards, allocations, funding and spending policies through one administration panel.

Organization finance teams

Follow transactions, review reports and access records for accountability and audits.

From direct food distribution to traceable support credit.

Card credit lets recipients purchase needed goods at approved merchants, reducing a program's reliance on charity-led food procurement, packaging and delivery. Organizations define spending limits and validity periods and follow where credit is used through transactions and reports, while preserving recipients' choice.

The challenge

The core challenge was the cost and complexity of delivering food assistance to people in need. Procuring food, packaging it and coordinating delivery consumed part of the charity's budget and staff time. Organizations also lacked a clear view of where resources were spent and which purchases they funded. They needed a way to reduce reliance on preparing and distributing food packages directly while making aid spending traceable. The solution was to allocate credit through prepaid cards: recipients purchase at approved merchants, while charities follow expenditure through spending policies, transaction records and reports. Individual choice and dignity are preserved along this journey.

AN ILLUSTRATIVE SCENARIO

Food support with individual choice.

A support organization allocates credit for its support program and sets approved spending locations and limits. A recipient checks their balance in the app and chooses needed goods. Charity staff follow credit use through transactions and reports.

SUPPORT PROGRAM POLICIES

Organizations define the boundaries of support.

Four connected decisions preserve choice within the program and allow the organization to review how resources are used.

1

How much credit?

Initial allocations or recurring card funding aligned with the support program.

2

For how long?

Funding cycles and credit expiration dates aligned with the program schedule.

3

At which locations?

Approved stores and merchants where support credit can be used.

4

Under which limits?

Spending caps and restrictions on cash withdrawals and out-of-policy purchases.

Support shaped around individual needs

Prepaid cards allow recipients to choose the goods they need from approved merchants within a support program's rules. Rather than relying entirely on a fixed package, purchasing decisions can reflect individual circumstances.

An operational tool for charities

Charities and support organizations can follow funding allocation, funding schedules and spending restrictions through a shared management workflow, making the connection between distributed aid and spending clearer to their teams.

Choice within a defined framework

The organization sets the boundaries of its support program, and recipients retain choice within those boundaries. This brings individual autonomy together with the organization's responsibility to manage resources.

2Card lifecycle, funding & spending policiesAid is more than a single payment: card issuance, funding, validity periods and purchases need to follow the same support program's rules.3 capabilities

Card issuance & management

Issuance and management of prepaid cards, with visibility into card status during use. The card gives recipients access to their support credit, and managing it is part of the organization's day-to-day operations.

Initial & recurring funding

Initial allocations or scheduled funding with defined cycles and expiration dates. Organizations can align the availability of credit with their support programs and follow allocations throughout each period.

Configurable spending rules

Spending limits and approved stores and merchants, with restrictions on cash withdrawals and purchases outside charity policies. These rules help direct credit toward the purpose of the support program.

3Organization dashboard & financial transparencyAccountability requires a clear view of how credit is allocated and spent, backed by records that can be reviewed.3 capabilities

A shared operational view

The administration panel brings card workflows, funding allocation and spending policies together. Staff can review the status of assistance and make operational decisions using information from the same system.

Transaction tracking

Real-time transaction visibility and spending history help organizations follow how credit is used, connecting resource allocation with reporting on actual expenditure.

Reporting & auditable records

Financial reports and transaction records provide a basis for reviewing allocations and expenditure. Clear records support accountability to donors and review of whether spending aligns with a program's purpose.

4The recipient's mobile experienceRecipients need to understand their available credit, find permitted spending locations and retain control of their card when something goes wrong.3 capabilities

Balance & purchase history

Available credit and card transactions in the mobile app help recipients check their balance before purchasing and review earlier spending.

Approved locations & PIN management

Access to permitted spending locations and PIN management. Presenting these alongside the balance makes the support program's rules easier for recipients to understand.

Responding to a lost card

Rapid blocking of lost or stolen cards through the app helps limit unauthorized use and gives recipients a way to protect their remaining credit.

RESPONSIBILITY & ENGINEERING

Building the core and guiding frontend delivery.

Working with a delivery team, I developed the backend and coordinated the frontend team, connecting financial rules, data and user journeys.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT COLLABORATION

Backend Developer & Frontend Team Lead

Working with a delivery team, I developed backend services, APIs, administration panels, business logic and databases, and contributed to part of the backend architecture. My work connected card workflows, funding, spending policies and reporting. Alongside implementation, I coordinated and managed frontend developers so API contracts and interface behavior aligned with the product's rules. The role combined hands-on engineering with team coordination across the platform's different user journeys.

Engineering & team responsibilities

Business logic & data

Backend and database development supporting cards, credit, spending policies and reports, with a focus on connecting information correctly and implementing product rules in the system's core.

APIs & administration

Developed APIs and administration panels and contributed to part of the backend architecture. APIs connected the user interfaces to the system's data and logic, providing consistent behavior for shared workflows.

Frontend team leadership

Coordinated and managed frontend developers, defined API contracts and supported implementation of user journeys. This part of my role connected product requirements, backend responses and the user experience.

CHALLENGE & PRODUCT VALUE

A clear connection between support, choice and accountability.

Cards provide access to support. The app gives recipients visibility and control. The panel and reports help organizations manage resources.
